The short version

EmberSSH doesn't collect your data. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking, in the app or on this website. Your servers, passwords and keys stay on your computer.

The app

What stays on your computer

Your connections, collections, settings and the host keys you've trusted are kept in a local database. Passwords, private keys and snippet texts are kept in an encrypted vault. On a Mac, the key that unlocks the vault is stored in your macOS Keychain. None of this is sent to us, and we have no way to see it.

What the app connects to

  • The servers you add. EmberSSH connects to them over SSH when you open a connection.
  • Our update server, once at launch. EmberSSH asks whether a newer version exists. The request contains nothing about you or your servers, but like any web request our server sees your IP address and the updater's name and version. You can turn this off in Settings, under General.
  • Links you click. A web address you open from the terminal opens in your default browser.

Files you create

Backups are encrypted with a password you choose and saved where you choose. Diagnostics (Export Diagnostics in the Help menu) creates a text file on your computer with passwords and keys removed. It isn't sent anywhere unless you send it to us yourself.

Importing from Tailscale reads the device list from the Tailscale app already on your computer. Nothing is sent to us.

This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party scripts, and its fonts are served from the site itself. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes standard request information, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. We haven't turned on Cloudflare's web analytics.

Buying EmberSSH

Purchases are handled by Paddle (Paddle.com), our online reseller and merchant of record. Paddle takes the payment, charges any sales tax or VAT and sends your receipt. It collects your payment details under its own privacy policy, and we never see your card number.

The provider shares your name, email address, country and order details with us. We use them only to send your download link, help you if you contact us, handle refunds and keep the records the law requires. We don't sell or share them, and we don't send marketing email.

Your choices

You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, except records we must keep for tax purposes. Write to support@emberssh.com.

Changes
